Cleaning your computer from dust, installing the cooling fan, and keep it from moisture are several methods for maintaining your computer. However, that’s only for the exterior. The interior, in this case, is the software and operating system, also need regular maintenance. Below, we have tips to do it.

Updating the Operating System

The first thing you need to do is updating your Operating System (OS), regularly. You don’t have to do it every day or even every week. If you can do it once every two months, that’s enough. After all, the patch or updated part for your OS won’t come too often. This update is important because it can repair the hole that can be used by virus or malware to attack your computer.

Clean the Unnecessary Files

Every time you do something on your computer - like open a program, write text, playing a game, and many more - the computer system will record it. And, it saves it in the form of temporary files. These are all important files, but you only need to latest one as the backup for your system. The old temporary files will only become the burden for your computer. In the end, these old files will slow down your computer performance.

Therefore, clean those unnecessary files or we also call them junk files. You can do it manually, but that will take too much time. The solution is using the special software that was made for cleaning these junk files.  This software will help you to clean it in a matter of seconds (it could take minutes if there are huge spaces needed to clean).

Scan Your Computer Regularly

Virus and malware also is the main cause of why your computer can’t run smoothly as it should be. Therefore, do the virus scanning regularly, at least once a week or every time you got notification from your anti-virus software about threatening or malice act that was happened in your computer. This will help you to make your computer run smoothly as well as protect your important data.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to remember here is keeping your computer system just like when you get your computer for the first time. The three methods above are the easiest way to do that. So, make it your habit. Moreover, by maintaining your computer regularly, you also can save money and increase your productivity.
